Use the Payee Setup - E-mail Payments Nickname List page to maintain a list of people that you can quickly send money to. Adding a nickname saves you the time and trouble of typing an e-mail address and last name every time you want to send a payment to someone. Instead, you add the person to your nickname list, and then select the name from a list to send a payment.
If the person is not yet enrolled in E-mail Payments and you try to add him or her to your nickname list, E-mail Payments lets you send the person an invitation to enroll.
Tip
If you want to send a payment to a person that does not have Internet access and an e-mail address or to a company, go to Payee Setup - Payee List and add the company or person as a payee. You can also receive and pay e-bills from some payees.
Although you have the option to add another E-mail Payments user when you send him or her a payment, you can add someone to your nickname list on the Payee Setup - Nickname Setup at any time.
To add a person to your nickname list, you need the following information:
Both the e-mail address and last name must be spelled correctly for us to recognize the person you want to add. The person must have also confirmed their e-mail address.
Caution
For the correct person to be added to your nickname list, you must type the last name of the person exactly as he or she types it in E-mail Payments. Pay special attention to last names with hyphens and apostrophes, such as Taylor-Brann and O'Connell.
If we cannot find a someone with the e-mail address and last name you enter, you have the option to send an invitation to sign up for E-mail Payments. After the person enrolls, you can add him or her to your nickname list.
To add someone to your nickname list:
You can invite someone to enroll in E-mail Payments without adding the person to your nickname list or without sending a payment. When the person receives your invitation and then enrolls in E-mail Payments, he or she can send and receive e-mail payments.
To send an invitation:
After you have added someone to your nickname list, you can change their nickname at any time.
Note
When you change a nickname, the change is made to all E-mail Payments transactions associated with the nickname, including processed transactions. For example, if you change your brother's nickname from Little Brother to Brother, the name in the Sender or Recipient column on the Payment Activity page changes to Brother.
To change a person's nickname:
When you no longer want to keep a person's name in your nickname list, you can delete it. You can still send E-mail Payments payments to someone whose name you have deleted, but you will have to type his or her last name and e-mail address on the Make Payments - Make an E-mail Payments page instead of selecting the name from your nickname list.
Note
Deleting a person's nickname from your list changes the name that displays in the Sender or Recipient column on the Payment Activity - E-mail Payments page to the person's e-mail address.
